To be a Daddy...

To be a Daddy, means a great deal.
I'll need to care for my child,
protect, teach, feed, grow...
you know all the things.
I suppose it can all be summed up by love.
Who's example do I follow?
I can't remember all the things my Dad did for me,
all the ways he has shown his love for me.
They are far too numerous to remember.
Who's the best Daddy ever?
How about...Our Father in Heaven.
Its easy to say the Bible is the greatest manual
for teaching, but where to start....
My wife is in her 4th month of carrying the little one,
and we have already started teachng.
We read the Ten Commandments, Proverbs,
1Timothy 3, Genesis 1.
That is, we read these Scriptures regularly, for the
benefit of child and parents.
We have decided not to determine the sex of the child until birth.
So, in Proverbs, we specify parts that are written
about boys and about girls.
We also do this in 1Timothy 3.
We emphasize which qualities we want in our child.
We are re-affirming that we want these qualities in ourselves.
We play classical and spiritual music.
We tell the child of our love for each other, him (or her), and for God.
There is so much to teach.
We'll need to rely on family, friends,
but most of all
God.
